The Opportunity: Role Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented VP, Group Account Director to join our dynamic team. This role requires a strategic mind and strong leadership skills. This individual will be instrumental in driving marketing strategy across all segments, influencing multiple or large-scale mid-level client relationships, and managing the workload and profitability of the assigned business. Your knowledge of brand, category, strategy, and marketing is respected from superiors and subordinates alike, influencing decisions across all aspects of the business.
Note: Requires travel.
Key Responsibilities
Core Function:
- Responsible for the development of the yearly forecast, working seamlessly with project manager/operations to predict and adjust month over month.
- Lead new business efforts alongside the partners; offer growth and development opportunities to junior account team members who are part of the pitch process.
- Provide overall staffing for the department to ensure client need and agency capacity are balanced.
- Deliver strategic client presentations, recommendations, and annual brand plans.
- Master the financial tools/processes necessary for a well-running account (financial management, etc), and ensure account team is constantly honing these skills.
- Management and mentorship of junior team members.
- Maintain strong client relationships, ensuring overall satisfaction with the team and agency.
- Identify and cultivate client opportunities; actively seek organic growth and help account leaders do the same.
What You'll Bring: Required Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Experience:
- 15–20 years of experience in a pharmaceutical or healthcare marketing agency.
- Effective presentation, mentorship, and client-facing skills.
Specialized Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of Veeva systems and client requirements.
- Master of industry trends and guidelines (eg, CAN-SPAM, privacy policy, etc).
- Fluent in market research methodology and approaches.
- Possess deep knowledge of category and competitive set, as well as client pipeline.
- Understand FDA rules/regulations and life cycle of a brand.
- Excellent understanding of the digital marketplace and ad formats.
- Understand the role and use of analytics, as well as the elements of a multichannel strategy.
Skills:
- Master of multitasking: ability to run multiple efforts and initiatives with ease.
- Ability to think strategically, creatively, and collaboratively.
- Ability to effectively lead and collaborate with multiple team members.
- Demonstrate expert presentation skills and superior listening skills.
- Expert facilitator who brings clients and teams together to solve problems no matter how big or small the issue.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Media, analytics, and measurement experience.
- Advanced degree (e.g., Master's, PharmD, PhD).
